The late right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk<\/strong>\u2019s widow, Erika Kirk, has broken her silence after a viral video showed the newly appointed Turning Point USA CEO crying amid the shooting that broke out at this year\u2019s White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner.<\/p>\n

\u201cSaturday was yet another traumatic example of the evil in our country and the continued rise in political violence,\u201d Erika, 37, wrote via X on Monday, April 27. \u201cI\u2019m taking time to spend with my family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Erika continued, \u201cI will be joining The Charlie Kirk Show<\/em> Wednesday at 12PM ET to briefly address what took place. Enough is enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the annual Saturday, April 25, event \u2014 meant to celebrate the first amendment \u2014 shots rang out after a 31-year-old gunman rushed a security checkpoint outside the Washington Hilton ballroom. The shooter, who was later identified to be a California man, engineer and part-time teacher, was swiftly apprehended. He was arraigned on Monday, charged with two federal gun crimes and one charge of attempting to assassinate President Trump.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tErika Kirk, the widow of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, is opening up about the moment she saw her husband\u2019s body after he was fatally shot. \u201cHis eyes were semi-open,\u201d Erika, 36, told The New York Times in an interview published on Sunday, September 21, her first since her husband was shot and killed on [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A Secret Service agent was shot in the chest during the incident, but survived thanks to his ballistic vest. He was released from the hospital that evening and reportedly sent home.<\/p>\n

President Donald Trump<\/strong>, first lady Melania Trump<\/strong>, Vice President JD Vance<\/strong>, White House press secretary Karoline Levitt<\/strong> and other prominent members of the Trump administration were all swiftly evacuated during the shooting.<\/p>\n

No one else was physically harmed.<\/p>\n

Shortly after the shooting, footage of Erika went viral, showing the widow crying as she left the premises while telling security personnel, \u201cI just want to go home.\u201d CNN also reported on Saturday night that she could be seen crying as the chaos unfolded, with news anchor Sara Sidneer<\/strong> saying on air that she personally witnessed Erika exiting the main ballroom while expressing her desire to leave the building.<\/p>\n
