Carrie Underwood<\/strong> is sharing the good, the bad and the ugly of life on a farm.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy goal is to just do as much as I can myself,\u201d Underwood, 43, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> at American Idol<\/em>\u2019s Taylor Swift<\/strong> night on Monday, April 27. \u201cI love it. It\u2019s a challenge, and it\u2019s frustrating, and it\u2019s exciting, and it\u2019s rewarding, and just all the things.\u201d<\/p>\n
The \u201cBefore He Cheats\u201d singer moved to a 400-acre farm in 2019 with husband Mike Fisher<\/strong> and their two sons, Isaiah, 11, and Jacob, 7.<\/p>\n
Underwood told Us<\/em> that her life as an American Idol<\/em> judge and country star is the \u201cpolar opposite\u201d of her life on the farm.<\/p>\n
\u201cI go home, and I had to have talks with my family at one point, because I was like, \u2018OK, when I\u2019m away, I\u2019m like, Cinderella at the ball.\u2019 I\u2019m a princess, and it\u2019s great,\u201d she explained. \u201cAnd then I come home, and I\u2019m like, covered in dirt. I\u2019m covered in poop. It\u2019s just the polar opposite. I\u2019m like, cleaning up after everybody and barefoot in the kitchen. But I wouldn\u2019t have it any other way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Underwood, who rose to fame after winning Idol<\/em> in 2005 and returned to the show as a judge last year, has shared frequent updates on farm life via social media, often sharing photos of her family\u2019s animals and veggies from her garden.<\/p>\n
\u201cPardon my sweatpants, but I had to show off these tromboncino squash! I\u2019ve got 5 of these babies! Woo hoo! We\u2019ll be eating these all winter!\u201d Underwood captioned photos of two large squashes in November 2025.<\/p>\n
In a May 2025 post, Underwood shared photos of a newborn goat.<\/p>\n\n
\u201cSurprise! We\u2019ve got another new life around the farm!\u201d she wrote. \u201cThis little guy happened to be born on the day of the @americanidol finale, so we figured it would only be right if we named him Jamal!!! \u263a\ufe0f Mama and Baby J are doing well \u2026 and I\u2019m popping by the barn to get snuggles every chance I get! Welcome to the world, little dude!\u201d (Jamal Roberts<\/strong> won season 23 of American Idol<\/em>.)<\/p>\n
Earlier this week, Underwood made headlines for sharing that she feels confident she would be able to live off the grid on her farm.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think if I had to, I could be self-sustained at home. I love growing things,\u201d the reality star told Fox News Digital<\/em>. \u201cIf I had all the time in the world, I would \u2026 not really need to go to the grocery store for too much. But it\u2019s a lot of fun. You know, I love our chickens. We have cows, we have sheep, we have donkeys. We have horses. I have my garden, and it\u2019s a great way to connect with the earth. That\u2019s my contribution to the family.\u201d<\/p>\n
Underwood, along with fellow judges Lionel Richie<\/strong> and Luke Bryan<\/strong> and guest judge Nikki Glaser<\/strong>, watched the Top 7 contestants perform songs by Swift, 36, and songs by artists from California during Monday night\u2019s episode.<\/p>\n
\n\t\t\tIn Lionel Richie\u2019s eyes, Carrie Underwood learned a valuable lesson during her first year as an American Idol judge. \u201cI think for her, the toughest part was saying \u2018No.\u2019 It took her about halfway through her first season,\u201d Richie, 76, exclusively told Us Weekly during an episode of the show\u2019s Taylor Swift night on Monday, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The episode concluded with two contestants being voted off: Maryland native Brooks Rosser<\/strong> and Mississippi music teacher Daniel Stallworth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
Contestants Chris Tungseth<\/strong>, Hannah Harper<\/strong>, Braden Rumfelt<\/strong>, Keyla Richardson<\/strong> and Jordan McCullough<\/strong> remain, vying for the title of American Idol<\/em> season 24 winner.<\/p>\n
With only one episode before the finale, the vote for the next Idol<\/em> is in America\u2019s hands.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m feeling so grateful and overwhelmed in a lot of ways,\u201d Tungseth, 27, told Us<\/em> on Monday night. \u201cI mean, so much love, and like, my community back home, and just everyone obviously has voted. It\u2019s America\u2019s vote. So to be in this position, all of us, we\u2019re blown away. But also, the relationships like Brooks and Daniel. They\u2019re just the sweetest people ever. And you hear them talking, you just smile, you know? I\u2019m so grateful and so devastated at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rumfelt, 23, added of the eliminations, \u201cIt\u2019s definitely bittersweet because saying goodbye, but knowing that we\u2019ll see them again, and knowing that they\u2019re so talented. They\u2019re getting kind of, like, a headstart on what they\u2019re going to do [for] their career for the rest of their life. I was talking to Brooks earlier, and he was down on himself. He was like, \u2018I don\u2019t know if I did well.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Listen, dude, you better get used to atmospheres like this, because you\u2019re going to be doing it forever, and I believe that. I 100 percent believe that.\u201d<\/p>\n
American Idol<\/em>\u2019s season 24 finale airs May 11 on ABC at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
