Variety<\/em> when asked about the possibility that the season \u2014 which has already been filmed in its entirety \u2014 might eventually air.<\/p>\nRecent court decisions may have influenced Disney\u2019s decision-making process. We now know that Paul will not face any additional charges following an investigation into additional domestic violence claims.<\/p>\n
Taylor pled guilty to assaulting then-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen in February of 2023. But it was only when ABC execs saw footage of the incident that they decided not to air her season.<\/p>\n
Still, Mills stands by the decision to cast her as Bachelorette.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had met with Taylor. She had said, \u2018Look, I\u2019m raising three kids with different fathers; one, I have a phenomenal co-parenting relationship with. The other one is a challenge, but I\u2019m really looking for a partner and somebody who can help me,\u2019\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n
\u201cHer motives were really very sincere,\u201d he continued. <\/p>\n
\u201cWalking into that, that was a really exciting story to tell through the lens of The Bachelorette. Obviously, with everything that happened and everything everyone\u2019s going through, that\u2019s the hard part. Everything that Taylor\u2019s had to go through has been really hard. The season itself is really, really fantastic. It was a great journey for her.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nMills also confirmed that Paul\u2019s other reality show, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives<\/em>, has resumed production.<\/p>\n\u201cThere\u2019s not much to say, other than we are clear to go back into production,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cThat does not mean we\u2019re filming tomorrow. It just means production is resuming, and we\u2019re trying to see what that looks like.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mills added that producers\u2019 top priority is Taylor, and they\u2019re working to ensure that \u201cas a human being, on a personal level she\u2019s being taken care of.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat shooting looks like will be decided later,\u201d he continued. <\/p>\n
\u201cEverything is still kind of day to day \u2014 this was just an announcement that we are just going back into production. That\u2019s a process. Because we\u2019ve been down for so long, we have to figure out what this season is even going to look like. What are the storylines?\u201d<\/p>\n
Mills refuted rumors that Disney was holding off on making a production decision until they knew if Paul would be charged with felony assault.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was just simply making sure that we were really being careful and thoughtful and working with the entire cast, as well as producers, and making sure everybody felt this was the right decision all around,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
There are rumors on social media that ABC has already set a premiere date for Taylor\u2019s season of The Bachelorette<\/em>, but those appear to be baseless.<\/p>\nWe will have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
