President Donald Trump<\/strong> interrupted a live TV speech honoring King Charles<\/strong>\u2019 arrival in the United States to make a joke about his marriage to Melania Trump<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

While speaking outside of the White House on Tuesday, April 28, Donald, 79, recalled the relationship between his late parents, Fred Trump<\/strong> and Mary Anne MacLeod<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe came to America at 19,\u201d Donald said of MacLeod, who was originally from Scotland. \u201cShe met my father. We loved him so much, we all loved him, we loved her, we loved him: Fred. And, they were married for 63 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Donald then turned to his wife, who sat behind him on stage, and said, \u201cAnd, uh, excuse me, if you don\u2019t mind, that\u2019s a record we won\u2019t be able to match, darling.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event\u2019s attendees, which included Charles, 77, and wife Queen Camila<\/strong>, laughed at the joke, prompting Donald to continue.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry, it\u2019s just not going to work out that way. We\u2019ll do well, but we\u2019re not going to do that well,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

MacLeod, a socialite and philanthropist, married Fred, an American real estate developer, in 1936. They remained together until Fred\u2019s death at age 93 in June 1999. MacLeod later died at age 88 in August 2000.<\/p>\n

In addition to Donald, MacLeod and Fred shared four other children: Fred Jr.<\/strong>, who died in 1981, Robert<\/strong>, who died in 2020, Maryanne<\/strong>, who died in 2023, and Elizabeth<\/strong>, 84.<\/p>\n

Donald added in his speech that MacLeod had an interest in British figures.<\/p>\n

The president continued, \u201cShe really did love the family, but I also remember her saying, very clearly, \u2018Charles, look, young Charles, he\u2019s so cute.\u2019 My mom! My mother had a crush on Charles, can you believe it? I wonder what she\u2019s thinking right now!\u201d<\/p>\n

Donald and Melania, 56, tied the knot in 2005. They share son Barron<\/strong>, 20.<\/p>\n
