\n\tOne day after Donald Trump said Jimmy Kimmel should be fired for making a joke about the president\u2019s marriage, Kimmel called out similar remarks from Trump.<\/p>\n
\n\tFor those unaware of the backstory, Kimmel\u2019s skit last Thursday had him giving\u00a0his own \u201calternative\u201d monologue\u00a0to the White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner, with archival clips of reaction shots from the first lady, Trump and others.<\/p>\n
\n\tKimmel said, \u201cOur First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tAfter the apparent assassination attempt aimed at Trump on Saturday night, however, the president, the first lady and the White House Press secretary all took retroactive umbrage. Trump termed the joke a \u201ccall to violence,\u201d and said it was \u201cfar beyond the pale.\u201d <\/p>\n
\n\tDuring his monologue tonight, Kimmel played a bit of Trump\u2019s speech welcoming King Charles to the U.S. In it, the president waxed nostalgic about his own mother, who was a fan of the king, and her 63-year marriage to his father.<\/p>\n
\n\tTrump, 79, then turned to wife Melania, 56, on the podium and quipped, \u201cAnd uh excuse me if you don\u2019t mind. That\u2019s a record we won\u2019t be able to match, darling. I\u2019m sorry. Just not going to work out that way.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tBack in the studio, Kimmel looked dumbfounded.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cWait a minute. Did he just make a joke about his death? My god. You should be fired for that,\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cOnly Donald Trump would demand I be fired for making a joke about his old age and then a day later go out and make a joke about his own old age.\u201d<\/p>\n \n
