\n\tDirector\/producer Jamie Lloyd\u2019s Evita revival starring Rachel Zegler will come to Broadway in spring 2027, producers announced today. <\/p>\n
\n\tThe announcement confirms recent speculation fueled by various clues and social media hints. The new production of the Tim Rice-Andrew Lloyd Webber musical will play a Shubert theater to be announced. <\/p>\n
\n\tEvita<\/em> on Broadway will be produced by Jamie Lloyd for The Jamie Lloyd Company and Michael Harrison for Lloyd Webber Harrison Musicals by arrangement with LW Entertainment.<\/p>\n \n\tProduction dates, additional casting and venue will be announced soon.<\/p>\n \n\tSaid Lloyd Webber in a statement, \u201cI am delighted to see Jamie Lloyd\u2019s extraordinary production of Evita<\/em> head to Broadway. It is so exciting to see Tim and my work reimagined in new ways, and the show has a generational talent in Rachel Zegler. The staging included a widely reported scene in which Zegler performed the signature song \u201cDon\u2019t Cry For Me Argentina\u201d on a street-facing outdoor balcony. Lloyd Webber has said the outdoor scene would not likely be reproduced in New York, with director Lloyd\u2019s statement about \u201ca new idea\u201d seeming to confirm that.<\/p>\n \n\tEarlier this month, Evita<\/em> received two Olivier Awards including Best Actress in a Musical for Zegler. <\/p>\n \n\tThe synopsis: \u201cFueled by unrelenting ambition and passion, Eva Per\u00f3n (Zegler) rose from poverty to become the most powerful woman in Latin America.
