Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) made it clear that he\u2019s not thrilled with Graham Platner (D) becoming the presumptive Democratic Senate nominee in Maine, declaring that \u201cRepublicans f\u2011\u2011\u2011ing love him\u201d because of his liberal policy positions and controversial statements.<\/p>\n
\u201cDemocrats really, really like Platner in Maine but the Republicans f\u2011\u2011\u2011ing love him,\u201d Fetterman said when asked about Democratic Gov. Janet Mills dropping out of the Maine primary.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a great day,\u201d he added sarcastically. \u201cIf Maine wants an a\u2011\u2011hole with a Nazi tattoo on his chest, they get him.\u201d<\/p>\n
But Fetterman said he doesn\u2019t plan to support incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R) despite his misgivings about Platner.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, I don\u2019t have any \u2014 I\u2019m not in it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Fetterman called out Platner recently over statements the Marine and Army National Guard combat veteran made on Reddit years ago about a raid that Hamas militants carried out against Israeli soldiers.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom a strictly professional standpoint, this was a damn fine looking and successful raid against a superior opponent, I dig it,\u201d Platner wrote online in comments first reported by Jewish Insider.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou know, like Platner in Maine,\u201d\u00a0Fetterman\u00a0told video journalist Nicholas Ballasy. \u201cYou know, he said, \u2018I dig it,\u2019 you know, in a video where\u00a0Hamas\u00a0was beating and torturing Israeli soldiers to death. \u2018I dig it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s the kind of what our party\u2019s becoming. It\u2019s been incredibly disappointed,\u201d\u00a0Fetterman\u00a0said.<\/p>\n
Mills announced Thursday that she would suspend her campaign for Senate because it was running short of the money it needed to be competitive. Polling showed her trailing Platner by double digits among likely Democratic primary voters.<\/p>\n
