Taylor Frankie Paul<\/strong>\u2019s lawyer is claiming Dakota Mortensen<\/strong> made plans to \u201cdestroy\u201d her shortly before her season of The Bachelorette<\/em> was canceled.<\/p>\n

During the exes\u2019 Thursday, April 30, protective order and custody hearing, Taylor\u2019s lawyer accused Dakota, 33, of leaking her 2023 domestic violence video to the press, which served as the catalyst to ABC pulling the plug on her season of The Bachelorette<\/em> days before it was set to premiere on March 22.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe same day [Dakota] filed his amended request for a protective order, a news outlet published the video of this incident,\u201d Taylor\u2019s attorney said. \u201cBefore this release, it had not been out in the public.\u201d<\/p>\n

The lawyer explained to the court that the 2023 video \u2014 which showed Taylor, now 31, throwing chairs at Dakota as one of her children was heard crying in the background \u2014 muddied the waters for her season of the ABC dating series. (Taylor was arrested in 2023 for the alleged incident and pleaded guilty to aggravated assault.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI understand he denies having done this, but a lot of information lends itself to Dakota leaking this, or at least at the very minimum, having his fingerprints all over this,\u201d the attorney alleged, claiming that the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives<\/em> star Jessi Draper<\/strong> hinted at Dakota\u2019s alleged involvement in the leak in her declaration submitted to the court earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Taylor\u2019s legal representation claimed that \u201cin addition to the timing, which is extremely coincidental,\u201d Jessi\u2019s declaration from a March incident that allegedly took place at her home in Utah, backed up their claims that Dakota was involved in some way.<\/p>\n

\u201cMiss Draper entered the basement of her home, that\u2019s Miss Draper\u2019s home, to find Dakota speaking with Miss Draper\u2019s husband, Jordan [Ngatikaura]<\/strong>, as well as Dakota\u2019s roommate, Crew<\/strong>, and [overheard] what they were talking about,\u201d the attorney explained, referring to Jessi\u2019s account of the events in her legal filing.<\/p>\n

The lawyer claimed that Jessi\u2019s estranged husband received a visit from Dakota in March, around the same time the damning video came out \u2014 and shortly before Dakota filed a temporary restraining order against Taylor along with a request for temporary custody of their son, Ever, 2, following their alleged domestic violence incident on February 23 and February 24.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDakota Mortensen shared his side of the story with officers via a phone call after his 2023 domestic dispute with Taylor Frankie Paul. In a video obtained by Us Weekly, an officer asked whether he was trying to \u201cprotect\u201d Taylor\u2019s daughter, to which Dakota replied, \u201cYeah, she\u2019s on the couch right there.\u201d Dakota went on [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to the lawyer, Jessi noticed that Dakota was \u201cvery animated\u201d and he was allegedly \u201cventing his frustrations with cops not doing anything, and told her he was going to take matters into his own hands to embarrass Taylor.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe specifically told Miss Draper that he planned on leaking embarrassing videos of Taylor to the press, starting with the bar stool video,\u201d the attorney further claimed, saying that Dakota \u201cspecifically named TMZ<\/em> as the outlet, and a few days later, that exact video was released by TMZ<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The lawyer explained that the only reason to bring up this story was because it allegedly \u201ccontradicts how he is attempting to portray himself today,\u201d referring to Dakota\u2019s appearance in court as the exes hash out their restraining orders and try to determine a custody agreement for their child.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe wants to literally destroy her,\u201d Taylor\u2019s attorney alleged. \u201cHe wants to subject her and her family to a new round of torment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTaylor Frankie Paul had been honest about her on\u2013off relationship with Dakota Mortensen while filming The Bachelorette. \u201cThere were several conversations had [about Taylor\u2019s status with Dakota], and the writing was on the wall,\u201d a source exclusively tells Us Weekly, referring to Taylor and her Bachelorette contestants. \u201cMany feel like their time was wasted.\u201d Taylor, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The lawyer further claimed that there are also \u201ccareer implications to it\u201d in addition to the \u201cmass embarrassment associated with that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy client\u2019s big objection to his conduct was, you know, this additional harm and embarrassment and shame that he inflicted on my client as well as her children,\u201d the attorney said. \u201cThis was a step too far, and we think, shows his true nature.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dakota\u2019s lawyer refuted the allegations put forth to the court, saying that his client \u201cdenies doing that, your Honor.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn fact, he told his publicist not to release the video,\u201d Dakota\u2019s attorney claimed, adding that his roommate Crew can attest to the fact that he allegedly kept saying he didn\u2019t want to release it.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTaylor Frankie Paul once claimed that her ex Dakota Mortensen showed an alleged \u201cpattern\u201d of \u201csabotage\u201d against her during their complicated relationship history. \u201cDakota has a history of creating these situations and there is a pattern of him trying to sabotage anything big or exciting happening with my life,\u201d Paul claimed in a March 4 [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While the 2023 video did affect Taylor\u2019s future as the Bachelorette, it didn\u2019t have any bearing on the exes\u2019 February domestic abuse case. Us Weekly<\/em> confirmed on April 14 that Taylor would not be charged in the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter reviewing reports and evidence submitted to the Draper Police Department and West Jordan Police Department, the Salt Lake County District Attorney\u2019s Office has declined to file charges against Taylor Frankie Paul,\u201d District Attorney Sim Gill<\/strong>\u2019s office said in a statement to Us<\/em> at the time.<\/p>\n
