Meryl Streep<\/strong> made a rare comment about her life as a grandma.<\/p>\n

The Devil Wears Prada 2<\/em> star, 76, has six grandchildren under the age of 10, but she doesn\u2019t necessarily identify as a \u201ccool grandma,\u201d she shared on the Thursday, April 30, episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d Streep responded to host Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong> when he asked whether the kids think she is cool.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I\u2019m a little like Miranda Priestly as a grandma. Because I like the rules, dear,\u201d the Oscar winner quipped, referring to her taciturn magazine editor character in the Devil Wears Prada<\/em> franchise.<\/p>\n

Streep shares son Henry Wolfe Gummer<\/strong>, 46, and daughters Mamie Gummer<\/strong>, 42, Grace Gummer<\/strong>, 39, and Louisa Jacobson<\/strong>, 34, with estranged husband Don Gummer<\/strong>. Henry, Mamie and Grace all have two children each.<\/p>\n

As for what the little ones call her, Meryl revealed the cute pet name her grandkids have for her.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey call me Mimi. The first one came up with it,\u201d she shared, referring to Mamie\u2019s 6-year-old son.<\/p>\n

While Streep may not describe herself as \u201ccool,\u201d she revealed that she often reads books to her grandchildren, complete with different voices for the various characters.<\/p>\n

In fact, Streep said her Devil Wears Prada 2<\/em> costar B.J. Novak<\/strong> sent over a copy of his 2014 children\u2019s book, The Book With No Pictures<\/em>, for her to entertain her grandchildren.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, sure. Yeah, I read that to Louisa, who is now 34. Not recently. I read it when she was in, like, the third grade or something,\u201d Streep said, referring to her youngest daughter, who stars on HBO\u2019s hit show The Gilded Age<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Streep recently gushed about her grandchildren in an interview with Barbie<\/em> director Greta Gerwig<\/strong> for the May 2026 issue of Vogue<\/em>.<\/p>\n
