\n\tAndy Cohen was the inaugural guest at the Deadline Reality TV Summit, where he offered insights into producing and the future of The Real Housewives<\/em> franchise.<\/p>\n \n\tThis year, Cohen and Bravo are celebrating 20 years of The Real Housewives<\/em> franchise. Rhode Island was the setting of the newest extension, which not many people thought of at first.<\/p>\n \n\tDuring the summit, Cohen gave insight into some cities that were scrapped, including Napa and Chicago, which they have cast \u201cseveral times.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tAnother potential city was Boca Raton in Florida, which Cohen said would\u2019ve been like the Golden Girls<\/em>.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI really wanted to do that \u2014 I got voted down,\u201d he said, adding that the reason that didn\u2019t move forward was that \u201cthe cast wasn\u2019t right.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tCoincidentally, E! is in production of The Golden Life<\/em>, casting former stars of The Real Housewives of New York City<\/em> who are now living in Florida.<\/p>\n \n\tCohen reiterated that casting for extensions of the franchise \u201chas to be right\u201d and \u201cright now the bar is so high,\u201d they wouldn\u2019t just put anything on air.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWe want to keep these shows as special as they are,\u201d he added. \u201cThe audience is so smart, and they know the show so well.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe executive producer doesn\u2019t think that Real Housewives<\/em> is oversaturated, yet people still ask why a certain show isn\u2019t in production.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cYou want to keep them fresh, and you want to keep a little distance too,\u201d in pauses between seasons.<\/p>\n \n\tOne show fans keep asking about is The Real Housewives of Miami<\/em>, which Cohen said is hopefully will be back.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI hope it\u2019s coming back,\u201d he said of RHOM<\/em>. \u201cIf it was up to me, it would be, and it\u2019s not. It\u2019s a great show, and we love it. Last season was a blockbuster. We brought a Haitian mortician into the vernacular, and I want to meet the guy. I have a coffee maker waiting for him.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
