Spencer Pratt<\/strong> has fired back at criticism of a new attack ad in his Los Angeles mayoral campaign.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, April 29, the former Hills<\/em> star released a campaign ad filmed outside the homes of two of his opponents in the upcoming mayoral primary: current Mayor Karen Bass<\/strong> and Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The campaign commercial racked up nearly 11 million viewers within two days of its release and has been praised as game-changing by Pratt\u2019s supporters. Raman, however, condemned Pratt for filming outside her home, calling it an \u201cunnecessary and reckless\u201d political stunt, while Mayor Bass accused her rival of doing his \u201cbest Trump impression.\u201d<\/p>\n

The controversy erupted during a sharp uptick in Pratt\u2019s fundraising \u2014 including an infusion of cash from former Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss<\/strong> \u2014 and rising poll numbers, as well as numerous celebrity endorsements.<\/p>\n

Why Is Spencer Pratt\u2019s New Ad Controversial?<\/h2>\n

Pratt dropped the attack ad on April 29, tagging it with a reference to Kendrick Lamar<\/strong>\u2019s 2024 hit \u201cNot Like Us.\u201d The clip opens with him standing outside of Mayor Bass and Raman\u2019s L.A.-area homes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is where Mayor Bass lives. Notice something? Or here, where Nithya Raman\u2019s $3 million mansion sits,\u201d he says. \u201cThey don\u2019t have to live in the mess they\u2019ve created.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ad then cuts to Spencer standing outside the trailer where he has lived with his wife, Heidi Montag<\/strong>, and their two children since their home burned down in the 2025 Palisade Fire.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is where I live. They let my home burn down,\u201d Pratt declares. \u201cI know what the consequences of failed leadership are. That\u2019s why I\u2019m running for mayor, for my sons and the rest of us Angelenos who want to stop these corrupt politicians from destroying our city. The hard-hitting content of the ad led to former View<\/em> panellist Meghan McCain<\/strong> predicting that Pratt will win the mayoral race. The Challenge<\/em>\u2019s Johnny Bananas<\/strong> shared the ad via X, adding, \u201cThat\u2019s my mayor \ud83e\udd18.\u201d<\/p>\n

How Did Nithya Raman Respond to Spencer Pratt\u2019s Ad?<\/h2>\n

The Los Angeles City Councilmember exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> on Thursday, April 30, that Pratt\u2019s filming outside of her home was irresponsible.<\/p>\n

\u201cFilming outside my home, where I live with my young children, feels unnecessary and reckless,\u201d Raman exclusively told Us<\/em> via a \u201cNithya for Mayor\u201d campaign spokesperson.<\/p>\n

Raman has previously urged Los Angeles voters not to laugh off Pratt\u2019s mayoral campaign.<\/p>\n

\u201cSpencer Pratt\u2019s run for mayor is no joke. He\u2019s a MAGA Republican who has vowed to work with ICE & end L.A.\u2019s sanctuary city ordinance,\u201d Raman tweeted on Monday, April 27. \u201cHe is a threat to Los Angeles and the immigrants who built their lives here.\u201d<\/p>\n

In February, Pratt confirmed that, if elected, he planned to work with the federal government on immigration enforcement in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

\u201cKaren Bass\u2019 open defiance of federal law for political gain has created confusion, tension and instability,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen I am mayor, I will work directly with the federal government in a firm but humane way with a clear focus on public safety. Violent criminals will be removed from our streets and law-abiding, hard-working families will live without fear.\u201d<\/p>\n

Did Spencer Pratt Clap Back at Nithya Raman?<\/h2>\n

Pratt dismissed Raman\u2019s criticism of his controversial campaign ad by suggesting that she was simply \u201cvalidating\u201d the premise of his political attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cNithya just validating the entire premise of our commercial,\u201d he tweeted on April 30. \u201cShe doesn\u2019t care if there\u2019s homeless drug addicts in front of your home, in front of your kids school, but God help her if a man in a suit takes a picture on the public street for two minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n
