Former Dancing With the Stars<\/em> competitor Cheryl Burke<\/strong> is giving fans an update on her dating life and celibacy journey before celebrating her 42nd birthday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am dating myself, and so far it\u2019s going too good,\u201d Burke, 41, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> on Friday, May 1, while attending Calamigos Ranch Resort & Spa\u2019s Leading Hotels of the World accreditation celebration. \u201cI don\u2019t know if I ever want to be dating again, to be quite honest, but if it happens, so be it. I\u2019m not searching, that\u2019s for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

The dancer continued, \u201cI will never do a dating app. I don\u2019t even know what that is. All I know is that I look at my phone enough that if I put a dating app on there, you\u2019ll never get my eyes ever. I\u2019ll turn cross-eyed. So there you go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Burke has been voluntarily celibate since her 2022 divorce from Matthew Lawrence<\/strong>. The two met in 2006, started dating in 2007, broke up in 2008, reunited in 2017, got engaged in 2018 and walked down the wedding aisle in May 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cI learned you can\u2019t buy love,\u201d Burke previously told Us<\/em> in an August 2025 cover story, adding that her decision to avoid dating is proof that she needs \u201cto heal still in that sense.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI touch myself all the time,\u201d Burke continued back in 2025 when asked if she missed being intimate with someone else. \u201cIt\u2019s great. We are good to go. There\u2019s no emotional baggage that comes with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Friday, Us<\/em> asked Burke if she is still on her celibacy journey.<\/p>\n

\u201cStill going strong,\u201d she said, adding that \u201cjust for my own self-respect and life for myself\u201d her decision to be celibate has \u201cabsolutely\u201d been a positive one.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s power when it comes to that type of stuff,\u201d she continued. \u201cAnd I think it\u2019s something that I needed my whole life, so giving it to myself now, there we go.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Burke continues to focus on herself, she maintains her Dancing With the Stars<\/em> fandom despite leaving the reality competition series in November 2022 after 26 seasons.<\/p>\n
