Yikes!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst of all, it\u2019s absolutely a double standard \u2026\u201d he acknowledged, which is arguably worth something.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I know I get in trouble a lot \u2018cause I say things with my chest,\u201d Cannon whined.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut there is a difference when parenting a son and then when parenting a daughter,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, there is. But only because parents so often make it so. If she can explain to me what\u2019s going to happen on these dates, then she can go,\u201d Cannon taunted. <\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Your twin brother can go with you.\u2019 That\u2019s what I do,\u201d he continued. \u201cBut you ain\u2019t going one-on-one with no little bastard anywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s truly alarming about all of this is that it\u2019s clear that Cannon feels that this is justified and perhaps even acceptable, rather than brazen sexism.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s normal to care about your children and their safety. Having a double-standard like this is not only sexist, but it potentially puts both teens at greater risk.<\/p>\n<p>As any child of strict parents knows, when you\u2019re forbidden from doing things, you have to become an exceptional liar. That\u2019s an important life skill, but it can also mean getting into bad situations that you can never tell your parents about.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, Cannon is says that he\u2019s scared about Monroe going off to college in a few years.
