Kennedy Department of Justice building on April 21, 2026 in Washington, DC. <span class=\"image-caption-credit\"> (Photo by Anna Moneymaker\/Getty Images)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>During a fiery interview on Sean Hannity\u2019s podcast, Patel took direct aim at the department leading the investigation, making it clear he believes serious mistakes have been made along the way.<\/p>\n<p>According to Patel, the handling of evidence has been a major sticking point \u2014 especially when it comes to DNA.<\/p>\n<p>Patel griped that the DNA evidence was shipped to a private lab in Florida instead of to Quantico, which he calls \u201cthe best lab in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe would have analyzed it within days,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>That tension isn\u2019t exactly coming out of nowhere.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kash Patel Uncovers Secret FBI Documents: The De-Weaponization Plan | Hang Out with Sean Hannity\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0zhi1bmlIjc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>As previously reported, the investigation into the disappearance of Guthrie \u2014 the 84-year-old mother of Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie \u2014 has been plagued by questions about how key evidence has been handled. <\/p>\n<p>Authorities have been working the case since February, after signs pointed to a possible abduction from Nancy\u2019s Arizona home.<\/p>\n<p>At the center of the controversy is the handling of crucial forensic evidence and the question whether those decisions slowed things down.<\/p>\n<p>Patel clearly thinks it did.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, his comments suggest the FBI has been ready and waiting to take a more active role, only to be held up by local decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the sheriff\u2019s department has maintained that it\u2019s been cooperating and making strategic choices about how to process evidence.<\/p>\n<p>But Patel\u2019s latest remarks signal that whatever coordination exists behind the scenes, it\u2019s far from smooth.<\/p>\n<p>And with no suspect identified and no resolution in sight, the stakes couldn\u2019t be higher.
