\n\tDavid Letterman has some strong opinions on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert<\/em> being canceled.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a new interview, Letterman said he didn\u2019t believe CBS\u2018s reason for cutting the late-night talk show, calling the network \u201clying weasels.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe was dumped because the people selling the network to Skydance said, \u2018Oh no, there\u2019s not going to be any trouble with that guy. We\u2019re going to take care of the show. We\u2019re just going to throw that into the deal. When will the ink on the check dry?\u2019 I\u2019m just going to go on record as saying: They\u2019re lying,\u201d Letterman told The New York Times<\/em>. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe comedian doubled down and added, \u201cLet me just add one other thing. They\u2019re lying weasels.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCBS has maintained that the reason for The Late Show\u2019s<\/em> cancellation was merely a \u201cfinancial decision,\u201d which Colbert addressed on his show soon after.<\/p>\n

\n\tLetterman said that he was in \u201cdisbelief\u201d when he found out the late-night show he had founded was canceled. Although he noted that CBS doesn\u2019t \u201cshare the books\u201d with him, he thinks that \u201call of television seems to have been nicked by digital communication and streaming platforms,\u201d adding, \u201cTV may be not the money machine it once was. On the other hand, what about the humanity for Stephen and the humanity of people who love him and the humanity for people who still enjoyed that 11:30 respite?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Stephen Colbert-hosted late-night show will end on Thursday, May 21. Taking over The Late Show<\/em> will be Byron Allen\u2019s Comics Unleashed<\/em> starting on Friday, May 22.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
