The NCIS<\/em> season 23 finale is just around the corner and fans of Special Agent Timothy McGee need to brace themselves for a wild ride ahead.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of our leaders, Mr. Timothy McGee, is in for a big surprise at the end of the season,\u201d Diona Reasonover<\/strong>, who plays forensic scientist Kasie Hines, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> ahead of the finale, which airs on Tuesday, May 12.<\/p>\n

She teased that McGee, played by Sean Murray<\/strong>, is going to have \u201chis relationship and his heart tested in a way that we are not going to see coming.\u201d<\/p>\n

Murray, for his part, previously told Us<\/em> that season 23 would include a character arc for McGee. Viewers saw one of those big moments during episode 12 on March 17, where McGee learned he has a teenage son from a past relationship.<\/p>\n

\u201cMcGee is always pushing himself to be better and improve, but at the same time, I think sometimes when these circumstances, these new situations, come up for him, it can be pretty scary for him too,\u201d Murray, 48, said in November 2025.<\/p>\n

Katrina Law<\/strong> \u2014 who plays Special Agent Jessica Knight \u2014 also hinted at a possible big shift for McGee this season during CBS Fest in April.<\/p>\n

When asked about who will become the new NCIS director after Leon Vance\u2019s (Rocky Carroll<\/strong>) shocking death during episode 13, Law, 40, said it\u2019s \u201cso up in the air right now.\u201d (Vance was shot and killed by a CID agent inside the NCIS office during the March 24 episode.)<\/p>\n

However, she hinted at a personnel change from within the team moving forward, which many fans think means McGee could get promoted.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou never know who\u2019s going to come on the show or who might move up \u2014 or come back,\u201d she told Us<\/em> at the press event, making a smirking expression for the camera.<\/p>\n

Reasonover, meanwhile, told Us<\/em> last month that fans should be prepared for a \u201clot of really surprising endings\u201d this season but played coy about whether the McGee twist would have to do with Vance\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re gonna have to wait a little bit longer,\u201d she said to find out who his replacement will be, hinting the answer won\u2019t be revealed until season 24.<\/p>\n
