On a recent episode of Aspire with Emma Grede<\/em>, host Emma Grede sat down with Victoria Beckham to chat about everything from \u201cBrand Beckham\u201d to sharing some insight on her daughter Harper\u2019s much-speculated plans to launch her own skin-care brand.<\/p>\n The former Spice Girl revealed that Harper came to her two to three years ago, struggling with her skin. \u201cShe used to have beautiful skin, but then, like all young girls, she was enticed by certain beauty brands, and she was putting a lot of product on her face that was not suitable for her skin,\u201d she said, adding that it led to a visit to the dermatologist because \u201cher skin was really, really bad.\u201d It was something she could relate to: \u201cI suffered with child acne, teenage acne, adult acne. I mean, every acne under the sun; I\u2019ve been there.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Harper\u2019s response to the experience wasn\u2019t just frustration. She put together a PowerPoint presentation for her mother\u2014two, actually\u2014one a pitch for a perm, the other a case for creating her own brand. \u201cShe genuinely had a point of view,\u201d Victoria shared. \u201cShe didn\u2019t want other people to struggle because she saw what she had done with her skin.\u201d Harper\u2019s reasoning was simple: \u201cI really want to create a brand because I know what I want, what I can\u2019t find, and I don\u2019t want other people to have to go through what I have been through.\u201d Victoria noted that they did, however, table the perm conversation.<\/p>\n Victoria described the presentation as products Harper had collected\u2014\u201cthings that she liked\u201d\u2014but that still fell short of what she needed. It wasn\u2019t surprising given how long Harper had been immersed in the beauty world. \u201cEver since she was tiny, she sat on my lap. She loves products, she loves formulas,\u201d Victoria said. \u201cShe\u2019s even helped me select colors sometimes when I\u2019ve been working on color palettes.\u201d<\/p>\n During the conversation, Grede shared that she could relate to Harper\u2019s story. \u201cI would go to Boots, and you\u2019d try all the things\u2014it was like Clearasil or some other thing that would just strip your skin,\u201d she said. \u201cAs a Black girl, you\u2019d wash your face, and you\u2019d be gray, and it would just strip all the oils out of your skin. It would be literally the worst.\u201d She also added that she once dreamed of creating something better herself, but \u201csadly, I didn\u2019t have the type of mother that would give that two seconds of thought, nor could she.\u201d<\/p>\n When Grede directly asked if Harper would launch a brand, Victoria said, \u201cI think she probably will.\u201d She was clear, though, about her own approach and noted that the 14-year-old is still in school. \u201cIf I can support her dreams and her passions like I can the other kids, I want to do that. I think there\u2019s a difference between supporting, as opposed to pushing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
