Tracker<\/em>\u2018s success on CBS is a point of pride for Justin Hartley<\/strong>, who went out of his way to credit Taylor Swift<\/strong> for some of that overwhelming viewership.<\/p>\n

During the Tuesday, May 5, episode of Tommy DiDario<\/strong>\u2018s \u201cI\u2019ve Never Said This Before\u201d podcast, Hartley, 49, recalled how the Super Bowl LVIII worked as a lead in for Tracker<\/em> on CBS, saying, \u201cYou never know how that\u2019s going to go because you\u2019re going to get a huge number because it\u2019s the NFL and it\u2019s the Super Bowl.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor, who plays Colter, pointed out the significance of the NFL game.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis particular one had Travis Kelce playing and Taylor Swift showed up at the game,\u201d Hartley recalled. \u201cI was like, \u2018If she shows up to this game \u2026\u2019 And then she showed up to the game and I was like, \u2018It\u2019s over, we\u2019re all set. We\u2019re going to get 900 billion views. This is going to be crazy because they\u2019re going to cut to her every couple of times and the world\u2019s going to go insane. This is great.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Based on Jeffery Deaver\u2018s novel The Never Game, Tracker follows a survivalist named Colter (Hartley) who travels the country helping people and law enforcement tackle a variety of mysteries. He continued: \u201cThen the game went into overtime. And I was like, \u2018No.\u2019 Then it kept going and we premiered at like 11:30 PM but we did good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Based on Jeffery Deaver<\/strong>\u2018s novel The Never Game,<\/em> Tracker<\/em> follows a survivalist named Colter who travels the country helping people and law enforcement tackle a variety of mysteries. As the series unfolds, viewers learn more about how Colter\u2019s past shaped his current life as a lone wolf.<\/p>\n

Hartley serves as both the lead and an executive producer on the show, which found its audience as soon as it premiered. After making its debut following the Super Bowl in February 2024, Tracker earned the most-watched broadcast premiere in three years. The show that previously held that title was NCIS<\/em>\u2018 final episode with Mark Harmon<\/strong> in September 2021.<\/p>\n

The viewership only increased from there, with CBS revealing in December 2024 that Tracker<\/em> averaged 18.2 million viewers per episode according to their Paramount+ and broadcast measurements.<\/p>\n

As Tracker continued to set TV records and raise viewership numbers, Hartley credited the storytelling for setting the show apart.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the things I really love about Colter and the way we\u2019ve built him is that he doesn\u2019t apologize for his masculinity,\u201d he told Men\u2019s Journal in August 2025. \u201cI think that\u2019s what people are looking for. You\u2019re asking yourself, \u2018What kind of people do I want to hang out with?\u2019 And particularly: \u2018What kind of male friends do I have in my life that I really value?’\u201d<\/p>\n

Hartley was thrilled with the example they are able to set with Colter.<\/p>\n
