Movie Premiere at Regal Green Hills on September 09, 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee. <span class=\"image-caption-credit\"> (Photo by Jason Davis\/Getty Images for DailyWire+)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Years after being hospitalized for withdrawal, Peterson has once again stepped away from the spotlight due to health issues related to his addiction.<\/p>\n<p>And Tammy says it\u2019s unclear if or when he will return to public life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Peterson is at home with family and helpful companions\u2026 he is not talking about going back to work yet,\u201d Tammy Peterson told the\u00a0<em>New York Post<\/em> this week, adding that he \u201cfeels as if he\u2019s in another realm of pain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis mornings are brutally painful and discouraging for him. Later, much later in the day, he sometimes feels some relief,\u201d she continued, adding:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe damage done from psych medications from over six years ago takes patience, time, and loving attention.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-9-16 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Joe Rogan\u2019s Shock: Alcohol &amp; Benzos Withdrawal Is a Nightmare! w\/ Jordan Peterson\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kNcGY9Cp7Ec?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In the years since Peterson began struggling with addiction and withdrawal, Tammy has become an outspoken critic of benzo medications, warning that they \u201cshould only be used in lifesaving cases.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are many testimonials written by people who have suffered from psych medication damage\u2026 The medical industry will have to face this evidence and take steps to protect the public from harm,\u201d she recently told the <em>Post<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was in excruciating pain for two years, like pain on levels that I didn\u2019t know was possible,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Daily Mail<\/em>\u00a0reported\u00a0that family friend Jonathan Pageau described Peterson as \u201coverwhelmed with pain and discomfort\u201d after only brief periods of conversation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Peterson has dealt with a wide array of health issues in recent years, and many have suggested that he would do well to stop counseling young men (and suggesting bizarre diets), when he appears to have so many difficulties in his own life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think what\u2019s happened to Peterson is awful and I wish him the best, but it really does show that maybe he should have been a little less judgmental of people who are dealt a bad hand in life and not hectored them quite so aggressively about personal responsibility,\u201d journalist Nathan Robinson wrote on X (formerly Twitter) this week.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s certainly valid criticism, and the harsh tone of Peterson\u2019s \u201cadvice\u201d was a topic of frequent criticism even before he became ill.<\/p>\n<p>But like so many others who might take issue with some of his views, we wish Dr. Peterson and his family well as they face these new challenges together.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reading Time: 2 minutes Psychologist-turned-self-help guru Jordan Peterson has made a career out of advising men on how to overcome setbacks.
