\n\tAs The Boys<\/em> heads into its final two episodes, Eric Kripke is stressing the importance of concluding every character\u2019s story.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe creator of the Prime Video series recently responded to social media complaints about \u201cfiller episodes\u201d in the fifth and final season of the comic book adaptation, which releases its penultimate episode next Wednesday on the streaming platform before the series finale premieres May 19 at 9:30pm in 4DX theaters and its Prime debut the next day.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNone of the things that happen in the last few episodes will matter if you don\u2019t flesh out the characters. I\u2019m getting a lot of online dissatisfaction, to put it politely,\u201d he told TV Guide. \u201cAnd I\u2019m like, \u2018What are you expecting? Are you expecting a huge battle scene every episode?’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tExplaining there was not enough budget for constant fight scenes in the final season, Kripke argued that direction \u201cwould be so empty and dull, and it would just be about shapes moving without having any import.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKripke added, \u201cAt no point during the writing of it was I like, \u2018Oh yeah, we\u2019re making filler episodes. So who cares?\u2019 We all thought at the time we\u2019re really getting these important character details. We have something like 14 characters, maybe 15. And I owe it to all of them \u2014 in that television is the character business \u2014 I owe it to all of them to flesh them out and humanize them and their stories.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 2x Emmy nominee and his writers felt they provided some \u201ccrazy, big things\u201d for the final season. \u201cIt\u2019s just sometimes it\u2019s a giant character movement,\u201d said Kripke. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBut apparently, just because it\u2019s not plot, you\u2019re like, \u2018Nothing happened!\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018Nothing happened, what?’\u201d added Kripke. \u201cThe craziest, biggest moves happened. It just wasn\u2019t someone shooting someone else and going, pew, pew, pew. And if that\u2019s what you want, you\u2019re just watching the wrong show.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAlthough The Boys<\/em> is coming to an end, the prequel series Vought Rising<\/em> premieres on Prime Video in 2027, and Kripke previously told Deadline that The Boys: Mexico<\/em> is \u201cheading in the right direction\u201d as executive producers Diego Luna and Gael Garc\u00eda Bernal develop the spin-off writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer. <\/p>\n

\n\tMeanwhile, college offshoot Gen V<\/em> was cancelled after two seasons last month, and the animated series The Boys Presents: Diabolical<\/em> is unlikely to get a Season 2 renewal.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
