\n\tThe latest edition of Deadline\u2019s Sound & Screen Television event is underway Wednesday evening, bringing into focus one of the most vital and yet often unseen elements of storytelling: music. From sweeping, orchestral themes to more intimate, character-driven pieces, a project\u2019s score and songs are integral parts of the puzzle when it comes to shaping how audiences connect with what they see on screen.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n\tSound & Screen, which has quickly become one of Deadline\u2019s most popular events, is back at UCLA\u2019s Royce Hall for the 2026 edition, featuring another fantastic lineup of musicians and their scores from this year\u2019s most striking television offerings, with the music performed live with the backing of a full orchestra.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n\tThis year\u2019s roster is an excellent one. We\u2019ve got Jeff Russo, a founder of Tonic and previous member of Low Stars, who is the composer behind FX\u2019s\u00a0Alien: Earth<\/em>; as well as Emmy-winning composer and musician Amanda Jones, who is behind the sound of Apple TV\u2019s\u00a0Murderbot<\/em>. Siddhartha Khosla will also join us onstage to showcase his score for\u00a0Imperfect Women<\/em> starring Elisabeth Moss, Kerry Washington and Kate Mara.<\/p>\n \n\tNetflix is in the house tonight with two shows:\u00a0Beef\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Wednesday<\/em>. Finneas O\u2019Connell, who has already won two Oscars, two Golden Globes and 11 Grammys, is the mastermind behind the score for the much anticipated second season of\u00a0Beef<\/em>, and he\u2019ll outline his approach for us this evening in front of the packed house of awards-season voters. Meanwhile, two-time Emmy nominee Chris Bacon, whose credits include\u00a0Source Code<\/em>,\u00a0Heretic<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Alpha and Omega<\/em>, will talk how he\u2019s built on Wednesday<\/em>\u2018s gothic score for the show\u2019s latest season.<\/p>\n \n\tRenowned composer Jeff Beal, whose credits include\u00a0House of Cards\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0The Newsroom<\/em>, is also in the building, where he\u2019ll walk us through the process of writing the music for Peacock\u2019s hit All Her Fault\u00a0<\/em>that stars Sarah Snook and Dakota Fanning.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tMeanwhile, Christopher Lennertz and Matt Bowen are returning this year to talk about their approach to composing the score for Prime Video\u2019s wild superhero series\u00a0The Boys<\/em>, while Tyler Strickland will walk us through the emotional journey of scoring\u00a0John Candy: I Like Me<\/em>, which explores the life and legacy of the iconic Canadian funnyman.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tBreton Vivian, who earned an Emmy nomination for his prominent work on Taylor Sheridan\u2019s\u00a0Yellowstone<\/em>, also returns this year to talk composing Sheridan\u2019s follow-up Paramount+ series\u00a0The Madison<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tHBO Max series\u00a0The Pitt\u00a0<\/em>is coming off the back of winning the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, and composers Gavin Brivik and Andrew Bird are on hand to break down crafting the show\u2019s original song \u201cNeed Someone.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tAnd last, but certainly not least, David Archuleta, Sophie Rose and Michael Blum are here to talk about their original song \u201cWish That You Were Me\u201d for Hulu\u2019s\u00a0Only Murders in the Building<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tCheck back Thursday for our Sound & Screen coverage, and on Monday when Deadline launches the event\u2019s streaming site featuring all the panel videos.
