Veonet Ireland has launched a new referral-only Eye Casualty Service at its Dublin Carrickmines clinic, providing same-day appointments for urgent eye conditions on a consultant-led basis.<\/p>\n
The service is designed to support GPs and community optometrists by offering rapid access to specialist ophthalmic assessment and treatment for patients requiring immediate ophthalmic attention. The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 8am-3.30pm.<\/p>\n
The service is intended for urgent presentations including sudden loss or reduction of vision, painful red eye, acute flashes and floaters, suspected retinal tear or detachment, corneal foreign bodies, acute eye swelling, uveitis, keratitis, and raised intraocular pressure.<\/p>\n
According to Alex Silvester<\/strong>, Chief Medical Officer at Veonet Ireland: \u201cDemand for urgent ophthalmic care continues to grow, and too many patients with acute eye conditions are still reliant on already-pressured hospital pathways for treatment that often requires specialist intervention at speed. Our Eye Casualty Service is designed to provide GPs and community optometrists with rapid access to consultant-led ophthalmic expertise, ensuring patients can be assessed and treated quickly in the right setting.
