Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche<\/strong> is speaking out on reports of \u201cfriction\u201d between federal and local authorities as the search continues for Savannah Guthrie<\/strong>\u2019s missing mother, Nancy Guthrie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe FBI has worked closely since the day that this happened with the local law enforcement,\u201d Blanche, 51, told NewsNation<\/em>\u2019s Ali Bradley<\/strong> in an interview published on Thursday, May 7. \u201cAnd there have been reports of friction. I\u2019ve seen those reports. We are here to help. And the FBI, President Trump, authorized and directed us to do everything we can to help in that investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Blanche added that Nancy\u2019s missing persons case is \u201cat its heart, a local investigation\u201d because of the \u201cnature of this type of potential crime.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nancy, 84, was reported missing on February 1 after she was last seen by family the night before. She is believed to have been abducted from her home in Tucson, Arizona, in the early hours of the morning.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSavannah Guthrie quietly left the Today show in the middle of its broadcast on Wednesday, May 6. \u201cSavannah had to leave a little early,\u201d Today co-anchor Craig Melvin told viewers during the show. \u201cShe\u2019ll be right back tomorrow, though.\u201d It is unclear why Guthrie, 54, stepped out early. Us Weekly has reached out to Guthrie\u2019s [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe FBI remains exactly where we\u2019ve been, which is, we\u2019re ready, willing and able to help as much as we can,\u201d Blanche continued as the case nears its 100 day mark. \u201cWe don\u2019t like interagency squabbles. Nobody likes that. That doesn\u2019t help the investigation. But we are in a complete cooperative mode with the local law enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Blanche also weighed in on whether or not he believes the FBI should take over the investigation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I don\u2019t think or not think that. I think that any investigation like this should be done by a coordinated approach, right?\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s tools that the local law enforcement has that the FBI doesn\u2019t have. So, in any investigation like this, it\u2019s not somebody taking over or taking a back seat. It\u2019s working together to solve the crime.\u201d<\/p>\n

Blanche\u2019s comments come two days after FBI director Kash Patel<\/strong> claimed that local authorities initially sidelined his agency, preventing them from investigating Nancy\u2019s disappearance.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey did,\u201d Patel, 46, claimed on the Tuesday, May 5, episode of Fox News Media\u2019s \u201cHang Out With Sean Hannity\u201d podcast. \u201cIt is a state matter. It\u2019s a state and local law enforcement matter. What we, the FBI, do is say, \u2018Hey, we\u2019re here to help. What do you need? What can we do?\u2019 And for four days, we were kept out of the investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n
