Savannah Louie<\/strong> got real about the shocking amount of money she owed to the IRS after winning Survivor 49<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is painful, it\u2019s actually devastating. I have already paid my taxes, obviously, from the past year and I think of that $1 million I paid about $380,000,\u201d Savannah, 32, said during a Thursday, May 7 appearance on the \u201cFinancial Tea With Mrs. Dow Jones\u201d podcast. \u201cIt was a punch to the gut.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former newscaster explained that the prize amount was \u201cmore money\u201d than she had \u201cever made in a year.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTo sign a check over essentially for that high, it was unreal,\u201d she reflected. \u201cIt hurts.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTwo-time Survivor alum Savannah Louie is opening up about her struggles with binge eating following her exit from season 50. Louie, 31, revealed during the Wednesday, April 8, episode of Victoria Garrick Browne\u2019s \u201cReal Pod\u201d podcast that her relationship with food changed drastically after she was voted off the current season of the reality show. [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Savannah also acknowledged she was \u201cgrateful\u201d to live in Atlanta, Georgia, and not in a state with high tax laws like California. (Georgia has a flat income tax system with a 5.19 percent rate while California has the highest income tax rate at 13.3 percent for high earners.)<\/p>\n

While Savannah was \u201cconfident\u201d about doing well in her first Survivor appearance, she was not thinking about the aftermath of potentially winning.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went in very confident \u2026 but at the same time, I wasn\u2019t necessarily in the mindset of where I\u2019m like \u2018Oh I gotta financially plan for that money,\u2019\u201d she quipped.<\/p>\n

Savannah isn\u2019t the only Survivor winner who has addressed paying taxes on their prize money. Earlier this year, season 48 champion Kyle Fraser<\/strong> poked fun at the circumstance on Tax Day 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cMe after paying taxes on the prize money today,\u201d Kyle wrote via an April TikTok video.<\/p>\n

The clip included the lawyer in a bathrobe sitting in a ball with his hands shaking while Reba McEntire<\/strong>\u2019s song \u201cI\u2019m a Survivor\u201d played in the background.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is satire, and I\u2019m glad to do my civic duty \ud83d\ude01,\u201d Kyle added in the caption.<\/p>\n

Kyle, who resides in Brooklyn, has not publicly revealed how much he paid in taxes.<\/p>\n
