Hayden Panettiere<\/strong> was in constant \u201cfear\u201d while living in Nashville after a stalker fixated on her before being sentenced to prison years later.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a very terrifying individual who wreaked havoc on my life for a long, long time,\u201d Panettiere, 36, exclusively recalls in Us Weekly<\/em>\u2019s latest cover story, on newsstands now, while promoting her upcoming memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning<\/em>. \u201cIt was a very scary situation.\u201d<\/p>\n

She remembers the man getting her phone number and the number of her closest confidants and he would call and text \u201call day, every day [with] threats on my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to cancel multiple speaking events, because he was traveling, and, like, waiting for me there, to do lord knows what,\u201d Panettiere tells Us<\/em> of the scary ordeal. \u201cSo I had to cancel everything, and I had to stay inside and live in fear.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress reveals that the convicted stalker was put in jail by the FBI and sentenced to 30 months in prison in July 2025, but he \u201crecently got out,\u201d which has stirred up several emotions.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been trying to process, you know, that fact, and it\u2019s terrifying,\u201d Panettiere confesses. \u201cIt\u2019s been very scary, the whole thing was terrifying. Still is terrifying.\u201d<\/p>\n

She notes that the case \u201caffected everyone\u201d in her orbit. (Panettiere was living in Tennessee and working on ABC\u2019s Nashville<\/em>, which ran from 2012 to 2018, when the stalking began.)<\/p>\n

\u201cIt affected not just me, but it affected everyone around me. Everyone was in danger,\u201d Panettiere tells Us<\/em>. \u201cA lot of people were in danger that were close to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Heroes<\/em> alum says that when she was first faced with her stalker, she was worried he\u2019d be \u201ccapable of finding me where I went.\u201d<\/p>\n

That constant fear had a \u201chuge impact\u201d on Panettiere and the lives of those she loved, which she says \u201cwas almost worse.\u201d<\/p>\n

Panettiere admits it was \u201cworse for me, fearing for them,\u201d explaining to Us<\/em> that once she saw someone threatening to harm her loved ones, she became a \u201cfierce lioness.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThank God for the FBI. Thank God they caught him,\u201d she adds. Panettiere says now that he\u2019s out it\u2019s \u201cdaunting\u201d to think about if he\u2019ll return, but \u201cthat\u2019s the reality of the situation.\u201d<\/p>\n
