Megan Hilty<\/strong>\u2019s daughter, Viola, is following in her musical footsteps and ready for close up at the young age of 11.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy daughter has gotten the bug. She\u2019s a singer. She\u2019s got this amazing voice in this incredible ear,\u201d Hilty, 45, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> on Thursday, May 7, while promoting her upcoming Caf\u00e9 Carlyle residency in New York City. \u201cShe can learn things really quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the Broadway star, who was most recently in Death Becomes Her<\/em>, said she supports both of her children no matter their dreams, she\u2019s been trying to instill in Viola that music and theater aren\u2019t the only things that exist.<\/p>\n

\u201cMe and my husband are trying to be, like, low key about it,\u201d she confessed. \u201cI\u2019m trying to be like, \u2018Well, you\u2019ll get applause for being great at math too.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMusicians and singers are used to basking in the glow of fame \u2014 but sometimes they share the spotlight with their kids. When Superstars like Beyonc\u00e9, Pink and Kelly Clarkson hit the road, they have been known to bring their children along for the ride. Beyonce\u2019s daughter, Blue Ivy, 12,\u00a0 joined her mother onstage in [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

If Hilty\u2019s daughter or son, Ronan, 9, whom she shares with husband Brian Gallagher<\/strong>, do decide to pursue a career in the arts, the Smash<\/em> alum said she\u2019d be totally on board.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not here to tell my kids what they\u2019re supposed to be. You know, me and Brian\u2019s jobs are to help them navigate and find their own path,\u201d Hilty explained. \u201cAs long as they are passionate, I don\u2019t care what they do. I just want them to deeply care about what it is that whatever, whatever they choose to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Tony Award nominee noted that for now, she\u2019s just soaking in being Viola and Ronan\u2019s mom \u2014 and not planning out what\u2019s next for either of them.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like it\u2019s just an honor to just watch humans grow,\u201d Hilty told Us<\/em> ahead of Mother\u2019s Day. \u201cThey\u2019re kind of hardwired to be who they are from the start. It feels like an honor to get to watch that and help that and foster whatever it is that that that they want to do with their life.\u201d<\/p>\n

The musician admitted that while raising two children is a reward in itself, it can be physically taxing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m also very tired because of it. I\u2019ve been tested in ways that I never thought I would have been,\u201d Hilty said with a laugh. \u201cBut like my husband said the other day, \u2018It\u2019s the most of everything.\u2019 It\u2019s the most joy. It is the most sadness. It is the most terrifying. It is the most, like, thrilling. You know, it\u2019s just the most of everything. So I feel lucky that I get to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Outside of her favorite role as a mother, Hilty keeps herself busy with her own career aspirations. After wrapping up Death Becomes Her<\/em> on Broadway last year, Hilty has been gearing up for her residency at Caf\u00e9 Carlyle in New York City, which runs from June 16 through June 27.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels like the quintessential New York experience,\u201d Hilty told Us<\/em> of seeing a show at Caf\u00e9 Carlyle, a jazz restaurant\/supper club located in The Carlyle Hotel. \u201cThis is the only one of the few places that has stood the test of time and is still, like, I don\u2019t want to say, \u2018Old School New York,\u2019 because while I was there [recently], I was like, this is young and hip.\u201d<\/p>\n

She posed on the red carpet outside New York City\u2019s Hayes Theater with Luca, who wore a [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

When it comes to her residency, Hilty said attendees can expect her singing with her band, \u201cwhich is not new,\u201d but she teased, \u201cI might have some guests that are a little unexpected. I\u2019ve never really done that.\u201d<\/p>\n
