Married to Medicine<\/i><\/span> star Dr. Heavenly Kimes<\/strong><\/span> has a positive update to share in regards to her estranged relationship with son Damon Jr.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve seen him on FaceTime. We\u2019re talking every day now, so we\u2019re building and I\u2019m happy for that,\u201d Heavenly, 55, exclusively shared with Us Weekly<\/i> on Wednesday, January 21. \u201cWhatever he needs, I got to give him the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

During season 12 of Married to Medicine<\/i>, which is currently airing Sundays on Bravo, Heavenly revealed that she wasn\u2019t speaking to her son after learning about his past arrest.<\/p>\n

While the Atlanta-based dentist still hasn\u2019t seen Damon Jr. in person in \u201calmost a year now,\u201d she is grateful for the progress they have made.<\/p>\n

The Bravo reality star is also happy that she chose to share this part of her life through reality TV.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt helps other people out there,\u201d she argued. \u201cI cannot be the only one dealing with something like this.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2025, Damon Jr. was indicted for alleged felony aggravated assault on a police officer during a 2023 altercation. In August 2025, the case was placed on judicial hold, and Damon Jr. was ordered to complete community service and mental health counseling.<\/p>\n

During a December 2025 episode<\/span> of Married to Medicine<\/i>, Heavenly revealed to the cameras that she found out about her son\u2019s arrest through social media \u2013 even though her husband, Dr. Damon Kimes<\/strong>, was aware of the legal situation for the two years.<\/p>\n

\u201cHad it not happened publicly, you wouldn\u2019t have seen it on camera to be very honest with you,\u201d Heavenly shared with Us<\/i>. \u201cHowever, I look at it as a testimony. It was something that happened, and you can look at yourself and I blame myself for different things, but I\u2019m not in control of anybody but myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heavenly said her son is in another state and joked that he looks \u201cplump\u201d when they FaceTime.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou always worry about if your baby ate or not. You know what I\u2019m saying?\u201d she told Us<\/i>. \u201cHe\u2019s doing well. I\u2019m sure I will see him soon, but it\u2019s a testimony, because things could have gone very differently.\u201d<\/p>\n

The incident has given Heavenly another reason to pursue politics. The reality star is currently running for the Georgia District 13 Congressional race.<\/p>\n

According to her campaign website<\/span>, Heavenly\u2019s main focus is education, access to healthcare, generational wealth and criminal justice reform.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want things to be different for people when they have experience with a police officer,\u201d Heavenly shared. \u201cWe\u2019re coming up with so many different things. \u2026 It always takes a Black female or female in general to fix things in my community.\u201d<\/p>\n
