Jenny Slate<\/strong> found a new sense of purpose and confidence filming Carousel <\/i>after the drama surrounding 2024\u2019s It Ends With Us.<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cI think what I found in myself during this shoot was renewed gratitude for the combination in my personality that is shyness and hopefulness that becomes this strange, gregariousness that feels so good to have,\u201d Slate, 43, told Deadline on Saturday, January 24, during an appearance at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. \u201cIt just feels so good to be that way.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cI think I also upped my confidence or my sense of legitimacy and the value of myself as a dramatic performer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Slate stars as Rebecca in Rachel Lambert<\/strong>\u2019s upcoming romantic drama, Carousel, <\/i>where her character reconnects with high school boyfriend Noah (Chris Pine<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJenny Slate will not be weighing in on the legal drama between It Ends With Us costars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. \u201cI don\u2019t have anything to say about that,\u201d Slate, 42, stated during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, published on Thursday, March 20, when asked to compare It Ends With Us and her [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t really associate myself with stillness or even patience, although I try for patience,\u201d Slate admitted to Deadline of the differences between herself and her character. \u201cI\u2019m not sure that I\u2019m exactly capable of, like, what most people would think of stillness, but I think of Rebecca as a much more still person than I am.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Slate, she\u2019s not similar to her character in real life.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019m really like Rebecca at all, except for that I want love and a partner and I hold onto love,\u201d she told the outlet.<\/p>\n

Before filming Carousel<\/i>, Slate worked on the now-infamous film, It Ends With Us. <\/i>The 2024 movie was adapted from Colleen Hoover<\/strong>\u2019s best-selling novel, chronicling a couple, Ryle (Justin Baldoni<\/strong>) and Lily (Blake Lively<\/strong>), in an abusive relationship. Slate appeared as Allysa, Ryle\u2019s sister and a close friend of Lily\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Several months It Ends With Us\u2019 <\/i>summer 2024 premiere, news broke in December 2024 that Lively, 38, sued her costar and director Baldoni, 42, for alleged sexual harassment, fostering a hostile work environment and attempting to ruin her reputation.<\/p>\n

Baldoni vehemently denied the accusations, while the pair\u2019s former It Ends With Us <\/i>costars have publicly declined to take sides.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIt Ends With Us\u2019 star Jenny Slate and book author Colleen Hoover were reportedly deposed as part of Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni\u2019s ongoing legal drama. People reported on Friday, October 17, that multiple members of the film production were called in for depositions. Included in that list were Hoover, 45, Slate, 43, and Isabela [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have anything to say about that,\u201d Slate told The Hollywood Reporter <\/i>in March 2025 when asked to compare working on It Ends With Us <\/i>to her Dying for Sex <\/i>miniseries. \u201cEverything is its own thing. I poured my heart into this work, and every minute of [Dying for Sex<\/i>] was important to me, and I just want to talk about that.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cAnyone can ask anything, but my only responsibility is to speak about the work I\u2019m there to promote. It was so important to me to get this job, so why would I spend time talking about anything but that?\u201d<\/p>\n

As the legal battle continues, a judge unsealed a handful of text messages from the It Ends With Us <\/i>crew earlier this month. In court documents obtained by Us Weekly, <\/i>Slate allegedly told her team where she stood with Baldoni after the film shoot.<\/p>\n
