World Cup 2026 news live updates: Latest on transport costs, ticket prices and injuries

Four tickets for this summer’s World Cup final in the U.S. have gone on sale for more than $2million each.

FIFA’s official “resale/exchange marketplace” website lists the quartet of Category 1 seats for the match at the MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, on July 19 for $2,299,998.85 (£1.7m) each, according to Sky News.

Other tickets in the same category and section, behind one of the goals at the 82,500-capacity arena, can be purchased for $16,098 (£11,953).

FIFA, the sport’s global governing body, does not control the price of tickets listed for resale — which is legal under U.S. and Canadian law — but takes a 15 per cent cut from both buyer and seller, which is included in the overall price. FIFA would, in theory, therefore pocket $600,000 if just one of the four tickets is sold.

Tickets listed for resale at previous tournaments have been capped at face value.
