With the 152nd running of the Run for the Lilies complete, the attention shifts to the Run for the Roses today at the iconic Churchill Downs, where the vibes on Derby day are always electric.
Named after Samuel Churchill, this venue opened its doors in 1875 and has been a staple of horse racing in the United States ever since, hosting the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby every year since opening.
The venue seats 170,000 people and has hosted the Breeders’ Cup nine times, most recently carrying those honors in 2018.
