EXCLUSIVE: For families who seek reproductive help, an IVF mixup and its emotional replications is one of their worst nightmares. HBO Max is tapping into that with a series in development, which comes from the This Is Us duo of Mandy Moore and Julia Brownell.
Moore is executive producing the untitled project, written and executive produced by Brownell who will serve as showrunner. While Moore does not have an acting deal in place, she is expected to star if the drama is greenlighted as a limited series, I hear.
The untitled IVF project tells the story of two families coming together against incredible odds and discovering a newfound extended family that they never could have imagined. The role of one of the parents is intended for Moore, sources said.
Executive producing alongside Moore and Brownell is Averie Huffine who previously ran Moore’s Roll With The Punches and developed the scripted Twin Flames project through the company’s deal at 20th Television. The IVF project was developed through Huffine’s new company, Humble Sandwich Productions.
Moore recently reunited with This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman with a series regular on his upcoming NFL drama series The Land for Hulu opposite Christopher Meloni. She received an Emmy nomination for her role on This Is Us. Moore, who stars in the TriStar feature comedy The Breadwinner opposite Nate Bargatze, is repped by Gersh, Untitled Entertainment and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
Brownell worked as writer/co-executive producer on NBC’s This Is Us for Seasons 3-6. She is a co-executive producer on Prime Video’s upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series Elle. Brownell is repped by UTA.
Huffine previously served as Head of Television at Boom Studios, where she produced Just Beyond for Disney+, and as a Director of Development at Pascal Pictures. She is also a founding member of Pasifika Entertainment Advancement Komiti, which uplifts aspiring Pacific Islander producers. Huffine is repped by Artists First and Ryan Nord of The Nord Group.
