Netflix‘s period miniseries Death By Lightning and new comedy Big Mistakes had four mentions apiece to lead the way in nominations for the Gotham Television Awards.
The streamer led all platforms with 22 noms overall Tuesday in voting by committees of critics, journalists, festival programmers and film curators organized by the Gotham Film & Media Institute.
Winners of this year’s third annual Gotham TV Awards will be revealed June 1 in a ceremony at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
HBO Max was second in overall noms among platforms with 19 today, with the two streamers taking all noms spots in the Breakthrough Comedy Series and Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series categories.
The former is where the Dan Levy-created Big Mistakes is nominated, along with Netflix’s Long Story Short and Too Much and HBO Max’s The Chair Company and I Love LA. Big Mistakes also picked up acting noms for Levy and his co-stars Taylor Ortega and Laurie Metcalf.
In the Limited/Anthology category, Death By Lightning is joined by Netflix’s Season 2 of Beef and Lord of the Flies, as well as HBO Max’s DTF St. Louis and Half Man from Richard Gadd. Lightning also picked up acting noms for Matthew Macfadyen, Michael Shannon and Nick Offerman.
Hulu and Apple TV were the next closest to Netflix and HBO Max with six noms apiece in the networks/streamers race.
A slew of series picked up three noms including Netflix’s Beef; HBO Max’s I Love LA, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and DTF St. Louis; Apple TV’s Pluribus; and FX/Hulu’s Alien: Earth.
