EXCLUSIVE: Here’s a nice genre package. Allison Williams (M3gan) and Michelle Randolph (Scream 7) are set to star in sci-fi survival thriller Homewrecker from leading French genre filmmaker Xavier Gens, known for directing Netflix’s hit shark movie Under Paris and on series including Lupin and Gangs Of London.
The synopsis for the original screenplay by Elisa Bell (Vegas Station) and Travis Gordon reads: “During a heart-breaking domestic revelation, three star-crossed Americans are suddenly forced to work together to survive a terrifying unexplained global event that threatens to destroy life as they know it.”
The project, which the producers have likened in spirit to Paramount sci-fi horror 10 Cloverfield Lane, is due to start production in France in mid July of this year.
Denise Di Novi (Crazy, Stupid, Love), Margaret French Isaac (Stepmom) and Oliver Scherick will produce for Di Novo Pictures, with John Zois (Greenland) and Warren Goz (The Marksman) producing for Parallel 42 Entertainment. Williams will also exec-produce.
Michael Rothstein and Samuel Hall will executive-produce for North.Five.Six, which is launching sales at the Cannes market. CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group will co-rep domestic.
Williams is coming off box office hit Regretting You for Paramount Pictures. Randolph is coming off major Paramount+ hit Landman, as well as Paramount’s box office hit Scream 7.
Allison Williams said: “I found the script riveting, and it had a depth that continued shifting and revealing itself as I read. Then, knowing Xavier’s work, I was very eager to work with this talented filmmaker. I’m grateful to be part of this team and this project.”
Michelle Randolph added: “I was immediately drawn to how Homewrecker blends psychological tension with something deeply character-driven. It has a kind of intensity and unpredictability that makes it such a compelling project. I’m so excited to be part of this with Allison and Xavier.
Xavier Gens commented: “I’m thrilled to explore American mythology from a uniquely intimate point of view. I can’t wait to share the set with Allison Williams and Michelle Randolph and push the boundaries of humanity further than I’ve ever gone before.”
