The first leg of the Champions League semi-final between PSG and Bayern Munich will go down in history as one of the greatest games in the competition’s illustrious history. The engrossing clash had absolutely everything you’d want from a game of football and it was impossible to take your eyes off it. Several of the best players in the world were on a display in a game that was defined by free-flowing, attacking football.
Both sides played the game in the right way and PSG travelled to Munich for the second leg with a one-goal advantage after their 5-4 triumph at the Parc des Princes. Luis Enrqiue boats an incredible record in the competition and they’ll be determined to reclaim their crown but Bayern pose fearsome opposition. Vincent Kompany’s squad is littered with world-class players and they’ve passed every challenge they’ve faced this season. Ahead of the game, we’ve produced a combined XI from the current squads based on the most appearances in the Champions League for their clubs.
Bayern Munich vs PSG combined XI
The combined XI is dominated by Bayern Munich with seven representatives, compared to PSG’s four and the total appearances between them stands at 792. Unsurprisingly, Manuel Neuer has played the most games with the legendary German goalkeeper turning out for 138 games for Bayern in the Champions League. Equally, Marquinhos’ longevity at PSG is remarkable with the Brazilian representing them 120 times in the most prestigious club competition. PSG have suffered a major blow ahead of the second leg with Achraf Hakimi – the best right-back in the world – missing out through injury.
The Moroccan captain is joined by Alphonso Davies at full-back with both playing 56 games in the competition for their current clubs. Along with Neuer and Marquinhos, Joshua Kimmich is the only other player to hit a century of Champions League appearances for their current club. Harry Kane, Bradley Barcola and Serge Gnabry but only the England captain is expected to start tonight.
