Boy, 16, jailed for raping teenage girl

A 16 year-old boy has been jailed for more than five years for raping a teenage girl at a park in Worcester.

The attack was in Cripplegate Park at about 02:00 BST on 10 August, when the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was 15.

CCTV footage showed him following the victim, a 17 year-old girl, over Worcester bridge and into the park, West Mercia Police said. He was arrested hours later and charged two days later.

He was given the jail term of five years and three months at Worcester Crown Court on Wednesday after previously pleading guilty to one count of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration.

The boy was also sentenced to two-and-a-half years for the sexual assault, which will run concurrently with the rape sentence, the force said.

He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for life, a spokesperson added.
