Portland Fire and Rescue said that when fire crews arrived, a cleaning crew alerted them that the fire had made its way into the restaurant after it initially sparked on the building’s exterior.
Fire crews opened a section of the burned wall and began extinguishing the blaze.
No one was injured.
Fire officials said they determined that a warming fire at a homeless camp had extended to the building.
PF&R is urging people to keep any fire at least 15 feet away from buildings and keep them inside a metal container, not out in the open.
