EXCLUSIVE: Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), Ilia Isorelýs Paulino (The Sex Lives of College Girls), Ashley Reyes (Walker), and Jamie Neumann (The Deuce) are starring in Quads & The Kicker.
Ranch Productions has started principal photography on the neo-noir thriller written and directed by Heidi James, inspired by the Off-Broadway play Never The Same Rhyme Twice by Andy Rooster Bloch. Production is currently underway in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Set within the shadowy world of female poker grifters and featuring original song, the movie follows a once-loyal sisterhood as shifting alliances—and a triple-con—fracture the bond that once held them together.
Filming is taking place in executive producer Dean Stoecker’s handcrafted cabin and across Northern Arizona. Pic is produced by Michael Downey (The Big Ugly), Dave McVeigh, and Heidi James. Executive producer is Dean Stoecker.
Choreographer is Monika Felice Smith; original songs are by Molly Venter of Goodnight Moonshine; and score comes from Keefus Ciancia (True Detective). Cinematographer is Luka Bazeli, production designer is Adri Siriwatt, and first AD is Saro Bonnin.
“The luxury of time—to really connect and explore—is something we don’t often allow ourselves anymore,” said James about the rehearsal process. “I wanted to build something that reflects a way of being before everything became immediate.”
“This marks our second film under the Ranch Productions banner,” said Stoecker. “We’re drawn to visceral, unique, hybrid-genre projects like Quads & The Kicker and have an exciting slate to follow.”
Tran is represented by Gersh Agency, 1v1 Entertainment, and Goodman, Genow. Paulino is represented by SDB Partners, Authentic Talent and Literary Management; and Hansen, Jacobson. Reyes is represented by Stewart Talent, and Mosaic. Neumann is represented by Independent Artist Group, and MGMT Entertainment.
