38’ Liverpool 0-0 Manchester City
City have been quite adventurous in their press, which requires their full-backs to sprint up the pitch to cover Liverpool’s creators when the home side can play their way through the first line, and that comes with considerable risk.
On one occasion Nunes pushed up to Wirtz but was never getting there (the same has happened with Ait-Nouri and Szoboszlai on the left), and on this occasion the German was able to play in Ekitike.
Guehi, though, was superb, sticking to the striker like glue despite his constant shifts and feints, the kind that he showed so well against Newcastle last weekend.
It is a risky approach by City but there can be huge pay-outs if they win the ball high, and an insurance policy like Guehi is very useful if they do get breached.
