The Green Bay Packers are signing free-agent quarterback Tyrod Taylor, a source briefed on the signing told The Athletic.

Taylor, 36, was ranked 150th among The Athletic’s top 150 free agents, 10th among quarterbacks.

Taylor spent the past two seasons with the New York Jets, backing up Aaron Rodgers in 2024 and Justin Fields in 2025. He was a popular teammate in the locker room and showed flashes of the arm talent and mobility that have helped him play 15 NFL seasons, including three as a starter for the Buffalo Bills (2015-17).

Taylor was set to take over for Fields at midseason last year before aggravating a knee injury during practice before the Jets’ Week 8 game. Taylor eventually stepped into the starting lineup in Week 12 and helped lead the team to a victory over the Atlanta Falcons in November. However, he injured his groin the next week, and the Jets started undrafted rookie Brady Cook under center for the remainder of the season.

In six appearances, including four starts, Taylor completed 59.7 percent of his passes for 779 yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions last season. He added 143 yards and one touchdown rushing.
