Wondering when to plan your driving around the winter snow storm coming this weekend?
Meteorologist Adrianna Kremer said that, while most of the snow will be coming on the night of Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026 in the Burlington area, we’ll have to endure the extreme cold forecasted for Saturday, Jan. 24, first.
“Try to avoid being outdoors if you can,” Kremer said.
Saturday will see a high of zero degrees with wind chills of zero to -10 degrees or even -15 degrees in Vermont.
According to a National Weather Service document, the most snowfall that Burlington has seen in a single weather event was 33.1 inches on Jan. 2, 2010 through Jan. 3, 2010.

When will the snow hit Vermont?
Here is a weather timeline posted by the National Weather Service for winter storm coming soon.
The snow will hit Vermont Sunday afternoon first, then become heaviest Sunday evening, Kremer said. It should continue through the night into Monday morning and afternoon.
Sunday should see a high of 10 degrees to 12 degrees.

How much snow will Vermont see?
Map shows considerable snow is expected to cover Vermont in weekend storm.
The meteorologist said that Vermont will see seven to 10 inches of snow with a little more further south.
“This snow looks like it will be fluffy in character, so that helps mitigate the potential for power outages,” Kremer said.
That amount of snow is expected to cause trouble for people who traveling, especially on Jan. 26, 2026, as it may make the road slippery and decrease visibility on the road.
