Retaine Omega Forté, an omega-3 nutritional supplement aimed at alleviating symptoms of dry eye, is now available, according to a press release from OcuSoft.
Retaine Omega Forté is intended for any patient with dry eye or meibomian gland dysfunction as well as “patients who take omega-3 for other health benefits because of its potency,” George Haines, executive vice president of OcuSoft, told Healio.
The supplement contains 2,490 mg of two omega-3 fatty acids — eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid — as well as 405 mg of additional omega-3 fatty acids. It is available in a lemon-flavored liquid manufactured through OcuSoft’s OmniPure TG process.
“The OmniPure TG process refers to a specialized purification method for producing highly pure, stable omega-3 oils, ensuring minimal fishy aftertaste and maximum potency by concentrating EPA and DHA from anchovy oil,” Haines said.
The “traceability and authenticity” of the Retaine Omega Forté anchovy oil supply chain has been verified by Orivo, according to the release. The supplement uses omega-3 fatty acids in their natural triglyceride form, which allows for more efficient absorption than ethyl ester forms, according to OcuSoft.
“Omega-3s have long been recognized for their role in ocular surface health,” Haines said in the release. “With Retaine Omega Forté, we’re offering a supplement that not only meets the needs of dry eye sufferers but also addresses consumer concerns around quality, bioavailability and taste.”
Other ocular products from OcuSoft include lubricant eye drops, itch relief drops, foaming eyelid cleanser and lid scrubs.
