The 76ers entered the 2025-26 season expected to finish around the middle of the Eastern Conference, and Philadelphia fulfilled that projection with a 45-37 record and the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.
A commanding win against the Magic advanced the 76ers through the play-in tournament, only to set Philadelphia up for an unenviable matchup against the Celtics. Boston won three of the first four games to put the 76ers on the brink of elimination.
Instead of folding, Philadelphia put together an incredible rally. The 76ers won the next three games to take the series, including Game 7 in Boston, and welcomed Joel Embiid back into the mix with stellar results (28 points per game). That set up a matchup with another Atlantic Division rival, the Knicks, in the second round.
